EXTRA Virgin Coconut Oil?

by Mandy
(Las Vegas, USA)

Is there such a thing as "extra" virgin coconut oil?

Hi Mandy,

There is no such thing as "extra" virgin coconut oil. This is just a marketing ploy being used by sellers to make their product look superior than others.

Unlike the olive oil industry, the coconut oil industry has not yet identified a definite set of quality standards to formally classify certain coconut oils as virgin.

For more on this, please visit extra virgin coconut oil.

All the best,
Frederick

I did not realize that up to this point, despite the popularity of virgin coconut oil (VCO), the coconut oil industry has not yet established the official guidelines for classifying coconut oil.

Yes, the Philippines, being the global leader in supplying VCO, should spearhead the establishment of such formal quality standards. It would further boost the already amazing growth of the industry.
