Nutiva Coconut Oil

Nutiva virgin coconut oil

Nutiva Coconut OilNutiva Coconut Oil is one of the more recognizable and respected Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) brands on the global market.

Made here in the Philippines, Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is produced from fresh coconuts only and "cold-pressed" no more than 10 hours after chopping.

Beginning the oil-extraction as soon as possible after opening the coconuts is crucial.

The white coconut meat which is the source of the oil can get contaminated by mold and bacteria, forcing the manufacturer to refine it beyond VCO specifications.

In fact, a number of virgin coconut oil producers use copra or dried coconut meat as their raw material.

Because its preparation and storage often occurs in unsanitary conditions, the oil extracted from copra is of poor-quality and requires refining (pressing or dissolving with solvents) before human consumption.

Sadly, after all the refining has been said and done, they still have the nerve to call their oil virgin, organic, etc... [slaps forehead]

Nutiva Founder and CEO John W. Roulac is a passionate advocate of holistic living, working in the areas of whole foods, natural healing and organic farming. He believes access to wholesome and organic food is a God-given right for people everywhere. Sounds like my kind of guy...

Personally, we prefer our coconut oil to have that mildly strong fresh coconut scent and taste. That's why we often make our own VCO at home so we can "fine-tune" the aroma and taste to our liking.

But if you prefer that light coconut flavor and fragrance (many do), then chances are, you'll truly appreciate what Nutiva has created for you.
