Lyme Disease and Bells Palsy

by Susan Berube
(Woodstock, CT)

I heard that coconut oil is great for getting rid of Lyme disease. Should I take it while I am taking doxycycline or wait until I am finished with the antibiotic?

Sue

Hi Sue,

Coconut oil can help you get rid of Lyme disease!

Lyme disease is a an acute inflammatory disease caused by Borrelia burgdorferi, a "gram-negative bacteria." Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA) lavishly present in coconut oil kill gram-negative organisms.

Since coconut oil is a food, I don't see why you can't take it while taking doxycycline. Even better, coconut oil is a "natural" antibiotic without side effects. It also has potent antiviral, antifungal, antiparasitic and antiprotozoal properties.

In my opinion, you can begin taking coconut oil while taking doxycycline, and continue taking coconut oil after you're done with the antibiotic. Make coconut oil a major part of your diet and you'll have that much added protection against a wide range of infections.
