How to Use Coconut Oil

Hi,

I’m trying to grow my hair and I just purchased a VCO but still confused on how to use it. Do I have to wash it off every time I apply it on my hair or can I use it as a “leave-in?” Secondly, can I mix the VCO with shea butter, jojoba and extra virgin olive oils so as to make my own home-made hair product?

Hi BB,

No, you don’t have to wash it off every time you apply coconut oil on your hair. And yes, you can use it as a leave-in. But I suggest you wash it off with a mild shampoo at least an hour after application, preferably overnight. Doing this, I find my hair so soft, smooth and manageable.

That’s good thinking! Mix VCO with shea butter, jojoba oil, extra virgin olive oil, and/or other natural hair oils and you have yourself a healthy homemade hair product. Absolutely!
