Coconut Oil on My Face

by Sasha
(Russia)

This is how I use coconut oil on my face.

I put about half a teaspoon of coconut oil on one palm, then spread it on both palms, then massage it all over my face for three minutes or so. I do this twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.

I have been doing this for almost a year now and I can't argue with the results. My face looks radiant and feels so soft and smooth. That's why only coconut oil touches my face. I hope you like my approach. It works great for me! Take care!

Hi Sasha,

Yes, don't be afraid to massage liberal amounts of coconut oil on your face. Its small molecular structure allows the oil to easily enter your skin and nourish it from the inside out.

I definitely like your approach! In my experience and others like my wife and sisters, it's actually one of the best, if not the best, way to use coconut oil on the skin.

All the best,
Frederick

It's Great for Everthing, Love it on Ethnic Hair
by: Jennifer

I love Coconut Oil and have been using it myself and the family for years.

Skin care: I take about 2 teaspoons and massage into my face for a few minutes and the result is a soft dewy feel. Same with all over my body (prefer to put it on my body while it’s still damp from the shower). One of my kids has eczema that flair up in the winter months. I massage the coconut oil on his spots each night during the flair ups and it clears up in a few days.

Hair treatment: For a hot oil/deep conditioning treatment, I wet my hair, section it off and SLATHER on coconut oil, massaging my scalp as I go. Put a plastic cap on like at the beauty salon, let it sit for as long as you want (or sit under a hooded dryer for 15-30 minutes). Then rinse out with some conditioner. Hair will be soft, shiny, have no frizz, and be very manageable. Great if you have dry scalp or dandruff problems.

Stomach: I also take a huge tablespoon by mouth every day to help with digestion and constipation issues. Coconut oil works wonders in so many ways.

Been Using Coconut Oil for a Few Weeks
by: Anonymous

I have been using coconut oil for a few weeks now, at least once a day, and at first it seemed to work great for my acne, clearing it up much more quickly than before. But now I have broken out way worse than I have in years... Is this temporary or should I stop using the oil? My face has not been this bad in years! But if I know this is normal and it will clear up in a while I'll keep using it... it’s just... phew it’s bad.

No Breakouts
by: Frederick

Hi Amy. When you say break out, do you mean "acne" break out? If yes, then the answer would be "no breakouts."

When I first used coconut oil on my face and internally, more acne than usual developed on my face and on my arms. I rarely get pimples on my arms so I was surprised...

But it turned out to be just as I suspected. A cleansing reaction of my body that lasted no more than a couple of weeks or so. It never happened again and my skin, especially my face, looked at least several years younger.

Does it cause your skin to break out or does it help with that?

Love Coconut Oil!
by: Francesca

No Susa, coconut oil will not stay greasy when you put it on your face.

The rare fat molecules or fatty acids that make up coconut oil called Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA) are shorter or smaller compared to almost all others. They penetrate the skin much faster than the fatty acids that make up other skin oils, so you won't have that greasy feeling for long.

As for the smell, it' just individual preference... In my case, I love everything about coconuts (smell, taste, etc.) so that's definitely not a problem. If you don't like its smell, try mixing an essential oil of your choice such as lavender oil or jasmine oil to alter the scent to your liking. Take care.

Doesn't it stay greasy when you put it on your face? And what about the smell?

Just Coconut Oil
by: Frederick

Just coconut oil works beautifully for my face. That's it! In fact, I don't wash my face with soap or anything else even when taking a bath.

The only areas I wash with the mildest soap I can get my hands on are my armpits, groin area, and feet. Hope this helps...

Do you use anything else on your face? Do you use a face wash or just the oil?

My Coconut Oil for Face Regimen
by: Frederick

Hi Sasha,

Our approach to using coconut oil on the face is very similar. The only difference is I massage coconut oil for no longer than 2 minutes and only once per day, before going to bed.

I'm actually contemplating on whether to make it twice per day again, like you do. Coconut oil is so effective that I'm able to achieve young-looking skin at just one application a day. The effectiveness of coconut oil affords me to slacken a bit... :-)
