In coconut-eating populations like here in the Philippines, the oil and water of the humble coconut are known for its therapeutic effect on the urinary system.

Urine usually does not have bacteria in it. When bacteria get into the bladder or kidney and multiply in the urine, they cause a urinary tract infection (UTI). A bladder infection is the most common type of UTI.

Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) that hate bacteria, viruses, etc. MCFA-rich coconut oil’s powerful antimicrobial properties protect your bladder and kidney from bacterial infection, preventing its spread.

Coconut water or juice is also reported to treat and prevent UTIs and dissolve kidney and urethral stones.

Being a natural diuretic, coconut juice increases urine flow, thus helpful in defending against bladder infections or cystitis. Getting rid of waste products can only be a good thing, don’t you agree?
