Autolysis During Coconut Oil Detox

Does the body go into autolysis during a coconut oil detox like it does during a fast?

Thank you,
Kania

Hi Kania,

I did some reading on autolysis or the destruction of a cell through the action of its own enzymes. My non-expert answer is, the body does go into autolysis during a coconut oil detox, but not like it does during a fast with no food at all.

Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA) plentifully found in coconut oil provide a quick source of nourishment for cells. Unlike other fat molecules, MCFA-rich coconut oil doesn’t even require insulin to feed cells. If only for this reason, I’m inclined to believe that with a coconut oil detox, cells or tissues are less likely to disintegrate by themselves.

But I’m far from being an expert on autolysis…

All the best,
Frederick
