Is there such a thing as “extra” virgin coconut oil?

Hi Mandy,

There is no such thing as “extra” virgin coconut oil. This is just a marketing ploy being used by sellers to make their product look superior than others.

Unlike the olive oil industry, the coconut oil industry has not yet identified a definite set of quality standards to formally classify certain coconut oils as virgin.
