Coconuts: Fruits From Heaven

Coconuts or niyog as we call it here in the Philippines, have nourished, healed, protected and beautified the human race since time immemorial. No wonder people call it, The King Of Foods.

Niyog is considered a functional food, a nutraceutical by others. There are very few other foods, if any, on our precious earth that can compare to the nutritional and medicinal value of this humble fruit.

Tradition has it that eating this tropical nut regularly is one of the secret to good health and long life. Many Filipinos especially in the provinces call it, The Fruit From Heaven. Cultures all over the world that consistently eat this fruit exhibit remarkable good health.

Perhaps, the superstar component of them all is the oil. Coco oil (CNO) after all contains more than 60% of the beneficial medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA). MCFAs give CNO its incredible healing and protective powers. It's what puts CNO towering above all other dietary oils and fats known to man.

But don't forget the meat, juice and milk. Coco meat improves digestion, helps in weight loss and protects against heart disease to name just a few. Coco juice or water dissolves kidney and urethral stones, destroys intestinal worms and cures malnourishment among countless other uses.

Coco milk has virtually all the benefits of CNO and is much more versatile in food preparation. If for some reason you dislike taking CNO straight, then coco milk can definitely be an excellent replacement.
