Coconut Oil Purchasing:
Different People,
Different Preferences

Coconut oil purchasing, whether for personal or industrial purposes, depends to a great extent on individual preference. In my case, since I only use it on delicious recipes and more often by the spoonful, the virgin coconut oil (VCO) I buy has to agree with my nose and especially my taste buds.

The Philippines alone can offer you a wide variety of VCO products/brands that would make your head spin. It took me almost two months to find the best one for me. I prefer the type that has a mildly sweet fresh coconut aroma and flavor. A sister of mine favors the tasteless kind. What a difference right in my own family. See what I mean?

Remember, coconut oil is a food. So if you like the smell and taste of the food, you most certainly will eat it. Some people insist that coconut oil is a medicine. I can't blame them. With all the curative properties and health benefits it packs, it truly is hard to believe that it's just a food.

Now for crude coconut oil buyers, the preference factor may or may not come into play. This type is not considered fit for human consumption and is primarily used in the manufacture of cosmetics, soaps, detergents, candles, shampoos, synthetic rubber, etc.
