Coconut Oil for Alzheimer's?

I have read online and watched on TV that coconut oil can help treat and prevent Alzheimer's disease. Is there truth to this, please? Thank you.Hi Bruce,
Yes, there is truth to this!
When digesting coconut oil, your body makes an alternative fuel for your brain called
ketone bodies,
ketoacids, or simply
ketones.
Ketone bodies are what your body produces when it converts fat into energy. And a principal source of ketones are the
medium chain triglycerides (MCT) abundantly found in coconut oil.
Unlike
long chain triglyceride or LCT-oils such as soybean and corn oils, MCT-rich coconut oil
goes directly to your liver, which converts the oil into ketones, bypassing the "mixing-with-bile" stage completely. Your liver then instantly releases the ketones into your bloodstream where they are transported to your brain to be used as fuel.
In the absence of glucose due to insulin resistance for instance, brain cells that have access to ketone bodies (quickly provided by coconut oil) could potentially stay alive and continue to function, thus preventing Alzheimer's disease.
All the best,
Frederick
