The term coco milk is used to designate the liquid obtained by manual or mechanical extraction of grated coconut meat with or without added water. The first extract without added water is called kakang gata here in the Philippines, while the second is a less concentrated form we call gata. What is the difference between coco milk and coconut cream? Coco milk refers to the milky fluid freshly extracted from the coconut kernel with or without added water. Coconut cream is the high-fat cream-like material derived from the milk by either centrifugation or gravitational separation. 10 ounces of coco milk contains about 3.5 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil (VCO). 10 ounces isn’t much at all so it’s really an easy way to incorporate the world’s healthiest fat into your diet. If there is one advantage coco milk has over coconut oil, that would have to be its versatility. Coco milk can be used in far more ways in food preparation. As mentioned, it’s an excellent substitute for dairy. It has a rich creamy texture and mild coconut flavor, and can be used in just about any manner you would use dairy milk and cream. Personally, the best thing I love about coco milk is it affects any condition similarly as coconut oil. Delicious, versatile and most of all, healthy! What are you waiting for?!
